I always search for commands. 00:39:46 Tom Trottier: FWIW, Hibernation writes active memory to your HD/SSD, then turns PC off. If SSD, then writing multiple GB every day/hour/... uses up max writes limit. "Fast Start" needs/makes a hibernation file. You can turn off hibernation via command " powercfg.exe /hibernate off " 00:42:24 Tom Trottier: Often you can wake a PC from sleep with a key press, but it depends on the keyboard, connection type, and system settings. Many Windows systems allow this by enabling the keyboard in Device Manager under the device’s power settings, and some keyboards wake on common keys like Space, Enter, or Shift rather than a special “wake” key. Pressing Space, Enter, Shift, or Windows key often wakes the PC if keyboard wake is enabled. USB and many wireless-dongle keyboards are more likely to support it than Bluetooth keyboards. If the PC is in hibernate or a deeper sleep state, keyboard wake may not work and the power button may be required. How to enable it Open Device Manager. Expand Keyboards. Open your keyboard’s Properties. In Power Management, check Allow this device to wake the computer. When it won’t work Some keyboards simply don’t support wake-from-sleep. Some BIOS/UEFI settings can block wake by keyboard or require a specific configuration. Bluetooth keyboards are less 00:44:50 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: Music-map https://www.music-map.com 00:45:17 Tom Trottier: Or get AI to simulate your favs.... 00:49:57 Tom Trottier: @David Swain How much do those kgs of plastic filament cost? 00:54:26 Tom Trottier: FWIW, there is some controversy because some governments want to ban printing out guns. This would imply sending your design somewhere before you can print.... 00:54:43 E O'Driscoll: The Ottawa Tool Library has 3D: I think they provide training and lend out the equipment. Check it out if interested. 00:56:22 Tom Trottier: Plastic is not an ideal material for a gun barrel... 00:57:23 Tom Trottier: How long does it take to print something, eg, something weighing 100g? 00:59:25 Tom Trottier: Have you ever used some kind of imager to replicate a real object? 01:00:38 Tom Trottier: Iphones have lidar for making 3D models 01:01:03 bob g: Name of 3D scanning software for phone? 01:01:29 Steve Parker: Can they use .dwg or .dxf files directly or do they need to be converted? 01:03:38 Tom Trottier: @David Swain you have car models in your background. Made any car parts? Did they work OK? 01:03:57 Stew Bruce: My wife has an artificial knee and a couple years ago her surgeon prescribed a brace for her to wear. The technician used some sort of an app on a phone to model her leg and send the data off to the shop. A couple weeks later, a nifty 3-D printed knee brace was delivered.
