I believe this is already the case - nobody can add an app to the Play Store without approval from Google. 00:23:09 Tom Trottier: More like Apple.... 00:23:22 Patricia Eakins: Replying to "Does this mean the P..." thank you 00:27:07 E O'Driscoll: Custom phones might be of interest to parents. 00:27:08 Tom Trottier: Sideload safe source: https://f-droid.org/ 00:28:32 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: UniGetUI https://www.marticliment.com/unigetui/ https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/xpfftq032ptphf https://www.perplexity.ai/search/what-are-the-differences-for-a-nQVNeSH9RUWr5DbE9kHvpw#0 00:28:36 Eldon Gaw: What would happen if you want to move stuff fro an old phone to a new phone? 00:31:03 Timothy: I recently got a new phone but not all my android apps were not moved over. Some because they were flagged as old and thus sercuity issues. 00:32:36 Alan German (OPCUG Meeting Coordinator): Replying to "What would happen if..." Moving data files wouldn't be affected. Moving, i.e. re-installing, apps may be affected. It's not clear to me if you have an APK file, e.g. for sideloading, whether you could install the package on a different phone. It may depend on the version of Android that is in use. No doubt, time will clarify many such issues. It's early days right now. 00:38:36 bob g: I played around with a Linux phone, the NeoFreeRunner, way back in 2008-09. It used OpenMoko Linux. It was really only suitable for developers or really keen hobbyists. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Openmoko 00:38:51 Tom Trottier: https://www.glarysoft.com/downloads/?p=su-page 00:39:02 Tom Trottier: https://patchmypc.com/home-updater 00:39:23 Serge-Érik Thériault: Does UniGetUI keep track of installations as well as a dedicated uninstaller program like Revo Uninstaller claim to do? 00:42:14 Tom Trottier: https://secteer.com/vulndetect/ 00:42:32 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: Bird ID with Merlin https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org 00:43:20 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: Glarysoft Software Update https://www.glarysoft.com/downloads/?p=su-page Patch My PC https://patchmypc.com/home-updater Secteer VulnDetect https://vulndetect.com/#/ 00:43:43 Natalie: The sound ID is great when you can't actually see the bird. 00:46:20 bob g: I find Merlin hears a lot better than I do. It identifies multiple birds over short time - some of which I hadn't heard. but still credible that it could be around. 00:48:37 Natalie: Replying to "I find Merlin hears ..." I've been amazed at how many different birds were detected from my back yard! I'm starting to recognize their songs 🙂 00:49:38 E O'Driscoll: Yay... let's hear it for Merlin Bird ID! 00:49:49 Bob Herres: TY Alan I'm in for this!✅ "Bird ID with Merlin" is definitely worth trying! Sounds like we haven't got much further yet! 00:51:52 Tom Trottier: Cybercream - the best of the worst 00:52:32 Natalie: Merlin is run by Cornell Lab in New York. They also have live bird cams. Nothing is too simple! Alan or I should be able to do something for next week. 01:11:33 Sherida Harris: Thank you. 01:11:35 Bob Herres: Steve & Tom 👍 Two shares on Notebook LM - sounds Great ! 01:11:55 User: Good evening I have a Dell PC Desktop Inspiron 5477 Windows 11. I heard that I do not need to add more protection. Being a bit skeptical I did subscribe to McAfee that will be due for renewal in December this year. The cost for 2 years was 293.79 until I called and than they reduced to 140.89? Another reason that I question this service. I would be interested in your opinion about how much protection is required? 01:13:25 Harvey Hope: Replying to "Good evening I have ..."
