I thought it was being “billed” as a TP something or other issue?… for security 00:45:43 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: @KWG - exactly! 00:51:43 Tom Trottier: splendiferous! 00:52:51 E O'Driscoll: I may end up helping my relatives move to Linux. I'm wondering about Mint, How long can I expect Mint to last? Will moving to Linux mean rebooting every year, downloading another version of Linux (a subsequent version of Wilma) etc etc? With Windows 10, for example, you install once and then just have security updates until a new O/S is necessary. 00:54:17 José Costa: Is it necessary to create a disk partition before installing Linux for dual boot or is it automatic? 00:55:26 E O'Driscoll: Good that there is a good working version of Excel in Linux. 00:56:04 Tom Trottier: What about 2054? 00:57:50 E O'Driscoll: Thanks for the ongoing info about Linux. Previously, I've been suspicious of Linux but I am starting to feel more friendly towards it. 00:59:18 Tom Trottier: alerts.google.com will monitor the web daily or as-it-happens for any search content 01:00:56 Tom Trottier: https://visualping.io/ 01:01:07 E O'Driscoll: Wow - visualping! 01:02:16 Alan German (OPCUG Treasurer): Linux provides frequent system and application updates which can be installed when the user wishes to do so. Wilma is a long term support (LTS) version and so is good for several (I think five - but will check) years. Linux is open source, very like Unix, and so is very secure and reliable. The Live-USB lets you try before you "buy" (into using Linux directly from the hard drive)! 01:04:51 Alan German (OPCUG Treasurer): Last ten coming up - any questions? 01:05:41 Tom Trottier: https://help.visualping.io/en/ 01:06:14 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: visualping https://visualping.io/ 01:07:01 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: NokoPrint https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nokoprint 01:08:09 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: Want to test MusicBrainz? https://picard.musicbrainz.org/ 01:09:03 Tom Trottier: MP3tag is an alternative - https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ 01:09:12 Tom Trottier: FOSS 01:12:00 E O'Driscoll: Very funny re the Gremlins! 🙂 01:12:09 Chris Taylor, President OPCUG: alan.german@opcug.ca 01:12:49 Bob Herres: Thank you!!
