I'm always tight for space 00:28:56 E O'Driscoll: Great idea for search of gmail. 00:28:56 Tom Trottier: 2 years of non-use 00:31:03 Jeff Dubois: Question on Gmail when used with a mail client and IMAP. There's a setting in Gmail which will sync your client with your folders on the server so when you delete anything on your client it will also get nuked on the server. You can (or at least should) be able to manage your Gmail mail size by simply managing your mail through a mail client. :-) 00:32:58 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: @Jeff - yes, but I think few Gmial users actually use IMAP to access their email. But it might be worth a share at some point to show the advantages of doing that. 00:33:41 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: FolderSync https://foldersync.io 00:36:00 Tom Trottier: If you want to sync to your PC or another android phone, you can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.resilio.sync 00:37:15 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: @Tom - coming right up! 00:38:57 Tom Trottier: I use to sync photos from my pixel 6 & EOS camera to my pixel 1 for free storage 00:39:49 Jeff Dubois: Replying to "@Jeff - yes, but I t..." There's also a Gmail app on Android which may do the same thing. I don't use the Gmail app though because I find it cumbersome and far prefer the K9 app on Android. (Sadly, I'm still on Outlook on Windows because I'm stuck (forced) into suite usage. (Thanks for the tip on the web-access though. I had no idea I could sort mail through the browser that way. Could come in handy for sure.) 00:44:11 Tom Trottier: Pixel 1s have infinite forever storage of photos/videos 00:44:32 Tom Trottier: ... if u access every 2 years... 00:46:56 Tom Trottier: It's sync or swim! 00:47:46 Tom Trottier: Emus are nice birds 00:50:43 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: PC-Phone USB Sync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quixotely.usbsync&hl=en 00:51:25 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: Resilio Sync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.resilio.sync&hl=en 00:52:19 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: Back up your entire Samsung phone to a USB flash drive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPIbYObuWk 00:54:26 Chris Taylor, President OCPUG: Alan notes that the option backing up a Samsung phone is not recommended. See the presentation deck and listen to the audio track for detaisl as to why 00:56:49 Tom Trottier: Also, most backup drives support baking up your phone too 00:57:34 KWG: Very helpful Alan. Appreciate you doing all this work. I’m low on google space and want my own control on back ups. Have backed up to PC, but would prefer something separate for my Pixel 00:58:56 Alan German (OPCUG Treasurer): @Karen Give FolderSync a try.
