Have either of you looked at the new Windows Backup app, see Windows 10 is getting the Windows Backup app too BY USAMA JAWAD, 2023-08-12 https://www.xda-developers.com/windows-10-backup-app/ see my post on Member Forum Sun, 13 Aug 2023 23:02:31 00:08:50 Chris Taylor (President): New backup app doesn't provide what I detailed I need in the presentations on File History 00:09:54 Micheline: Thanks Chris 00:11:03 Alan German (OPCUG Treasurer): @Micheline It's Windows File History that may be deprecated. FreeFileSync is a viable replacement - actually with somewhat greater functionality. I have not looked at Windows Backup and, with my views on Microsoft in general, will not be doing so. The backup systems I currently use - Rescuezilla, FreeFileSync, and Quick Shadow Backup all function really well. 00:12:28 Micheline: Thanks Alan - my memory is not so good these days! 00:15:04 Alan German (OPCUG Treasurer): FYI - If you have a webcam, we could see who you are. If not, you can use a static image. Just a thought... 00:22:21 Allison: I use this method all the time to cast my Surface to my TV (through my Roku) It works great. 00:23:08 Natalie: Thanks, that's easier than the HDMI connection! 00:23:09 Chris Taylor (President): Cast Windows desktop to a TV https://www.androidintel.net/windows 00:23:20 E O'Driscoll: Interesting casting to TV. 00:23:20 Chris Taylor (President): YouTube Tech: GadgetByte https://www.youtube.com/@GadgetByte/about 00:24:11 Timothy: Go go gadget. 00:25:37 Chris Taylor (President): Deep Brain https://www.deepbrain.io 00:27:09 E O'Driscoll: Deep Brain! Wow. 00:27:44 E O'Driscoll: Who/what is .io ? 00:28:06 E O'Driscoll: I'll look it up. 00:28:51 Chris Taylor (President): "The Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) .io is nominally assigned to the British Indian Ocean Territory.[1] The domain is operated commercially by Afilias, a domain name registry subsidiary of Ethos Capital.[2][3] Google's ad targeting treats .io as a generic top-level domain (gTLD) because "users and website owners frequently see [the domain] as being more generic than country-targeted" 00:29:51 Jeff Dubois: HDMI -> VGA dongle. But you also have to tell the computer to pipe sound through a USB connected speaker because when you plug the HDMI cable in it will want to pipe your sound elsewere. So a USB or Bluetooth speaker in conjunction with the dongle. 00:29:53 Chris Taylor (President): I suspect some companies are using .io domain names to mean "input/output" 00:30:23 Chris Taylor (President): namePros https://www.namepros.com 00:30:29 E O'Driscoll: Thank you 00:35:47 Chris Taylor (President): Authentication https://www.login.gov/help/get-started/authentication-methods/ 00:36:07 tom: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/services/travel-voyage/prog/nexus/contacts-eng.html 00:36:52 tom: 1-800-842-7647 Residents of Ontario and the United States 00:38:35 Chris Taylor (President): Lenovo mouse & keyboard https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/p/accessories-and-software/keyboards-and-mice/keyboard-and-mouse-combos/gx30z21568 00:39:55 Stew Bruce: @Tom-use chat, I could see you were unmuted but your mic wasn't working 00:40:29 tom: Nexus: You can also contact us by email at ttppost-p_yfpostes@cbsa-asfc.gc.ca 00:40:56 E O'Driscoll: Good info on the gaming keyboard & mouse - I was going to ask what the difference is but now I see the point. 00:42:39 Bob Herres: If you buy Lenovo through "Rakuten", currently you will get another 8% off, it's not a lot, it's easy to increase your Rakuten account into something very sizable! 00:43:47 Timothy: These day, every little savings helps. 00:46:15 Natalie: That's a great deal.
