I'm considering buying a new Asus Viviobook 14" notebook, on sale for $549.00 at Canada Computers. Is it worth buying a shop warranty? Are notebooks/laptops generally reliable now? The warranty would cover parts & labour, free shipping to manufacturer if necessary, 1 free diagnostics check & 1-per-year free physical cleaning & Windows factory reset if needed. It would not cover software or backup/recovery. 2 years = $84.64; 3 years = $95.22; 4 years = $116.38. So, it's a significant add-on to the purchase price. How much of a gamble are notebooks now? Margery Anne Wardle 00:13:18 Tom Trottier: My 2-year-old asus is having a few probs - I say go for it 00:13:40 Alan German: I have never purchased additional warranties and I have never regretted the policy. Personally, I don't think they are worth what is charged. Anyone have a differing opinion? I think if you use "at Windows startup" it might not work right because your user account has not yet taken control. 00:39:02 Tristan W: Can use the NRC Canada time servers as well. time.nrc.ca time.chu.nrc.ca https://nrc.canada.ca/en/certifications-evaluations-standards/canadas-official-time/network-time-protocol-ntp 00:39:22 Tom Trottier: or 613 745 1576 00:39:29 Timothy: if using your phone, you can dial the NRC time 613-745-1576 00:39:55 Tom Trottier: or phone app - search for NTP 00:40:56 Natalie: Someone my neighbour knows had their car stolen in the recent rash of thefts (mostly newer, high-end remote start cars). 00:41:19 Tom Trottier: You can block outside vision of VIN via a sticker... 00:41:47 Chris Taylor: Why secure coding is important https://twitter.com/samwcyo/status/1597792097175674880 https://www.hackread.com/honda-nissan-app-flaw-cars-vin/ 00:42:08 Timothy: If you code it, they will hack it. 00:44:22 Tom Trottier: Could you connect to iCloud via a windows machine? 00:47:03 Chris Taylor: DCIM stands for Digital Camera IMage 00:49:46 bea: if you don't mind paying for it - I use the scandisk iXpand Flash Drive which makes it quite simple to transfer. 00:51:30 J.
