A negative of small form factor is that small and powerful, is also very expensive compared to a larger form factor. 00:21:32 micheline: The best one so far is the Asus ExpertCentre D7 SFF D700SD which has an i7-12700 CPU 00:21:34 Chris Taylor: Irfanview - https://www.irfanview.com/ 00:21:37 Tom Trottier: also, maybe try running HP app as older Windows 00:21:46 Chris Taylor: What is OLED https://www.howtogeek.com/732089/what-is-oled/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOcLasaRCzY&t=12s 00:22:20 micheline: Intel do not have a 12th gen i7 NUC yet 00:23:38 Tristan: Yes the NUC 12th gen won't be until later this year. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-confirm-nuc-12-extreme-uses-socketed-alder-lake-s 00:24:39 Tom Trottier: https://www.flyerca.com/ 00:26:05 Chris Taylor: Lux Light Meter Pro https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doggoapps.luxlight 00:28:00 Chris Taylor: Barometer Reborn 2022 (Android) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hubalek.android.apps.barometer 00:29:15 Jocelyn Doire: barometer, how does it measure that? if the phone has a pressure sensor, why? 00:30:04 Tristan: For any that want to go down the rabbit hole of self-hosting home services in Docker. This group provides nice documentation and world leading docker images. https://www.linuxserver.io/ 00:31:03 Jocelyn Doire: gps does not need a pressure, satellite is all it needs to measure position and altitude 00:31:16 Chris Taylor: DoF (depth of field calculator - for photography) (Android) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.jonathansachs.dof Reference manual https://www.dl-c.com/DoF Compatible version of DoF for Windows https://www.dl-c.com/DoF 00:36:28 Glen: Is there a mathematical definition of blur? 00:37:45 Tom Trottier: "circle of confusion" 00:37:52 Tristan: Also found this mathematical expression for image processing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaussian_blur 00:38:38 Bob Herres: Flipp is best used for "Price matching" Eg my wife usually uses the lower, larger section of the cart for price matching. Eg 3/4 of our groceries are price matched at Real Cdn Superstore. Just show the cashiers the items on your phone. For meats, the Butcher will retag the items when shown Flipp items. (They already know every items you show them, so it's really quick) Overall savings are substantial, 20 to 35% is easy. 00:39:47 Natalie: App for measuring sound: Sound Meter by Melon Soft 00:45:50 Tristan: This tool is great for launching multiple ISO files from a USB. Can also still use it for storing data too. https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html 00:47:16 Chris Taylor: Linux Mint https://linuxmint.com 00:48:31 Chris Taylor: Rufus https://rufus.ie/en/ 00:49:08 Tom Trottier: with YUMI you can have multiple bootable OSs on the same USB 00:54:52 Tristan: Interesting Linux distro timeline diagram. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b5/Linux_Distribution_Timeline_21_10_2021.svg 00:57:22 Tom Trottier: Smalll form factor computer - https://protectli.com/vault-6-port/ 00:59:18 Tom Trottier: & more - https://www.servethehome.com/?s=tiny+mini+micro 01:00:34 Alan German: I too recommend Yumi as USB drives these days are really cheap and have really large capacities. It's really a waste to use a 32 or 64 GB drive to run one Linux distro so being able to install multiple distros to test and different utilities, such as GParted to manage disk partitions, on a single large USB drive is very handy. But, of course, if you have old, smaller capacity USB drives lying around, Rufus will burn a single ISO to create a bootable driver very easily. 01:02:01 Tom Trottier: !st party cookies are set by the domain you are visiting. 3rd party by other domains. 01:03:09 Alan German: Yumi - A Workhorse of a Different Colour https://opcug.ca/Reviews/Yumi.htm 01:07:55 Alan German: Not an OPCUG member?
