Stu:

Since you and Anne loaned the club money, you must know! ;-)

At the beginning, I had trouble finding out about the group. Somehow I found out about a meeting at the National Library -- was it about the architecture of the newest Intel chips? Then we met upstairs at the Glebe Community Centre for a number of years, then NRC (not NCR), Macarthur High School, then Borden, and now the Museum of Science and Technology.

Was it [Name removed, see 2 messages below]?

All the best,

I think the meeting you recall was actually hosted by the Hyperion group although the IBM group was invited by them to attend; it certainly was early on when neither club was very large. We would often invite or be invited by the Hyperion group to attend each other's meetings especially if we snagged a special speaker. I remember Intel gave out all sorts of tech manuals and literature on their next generations of processors. It was an amazing evening especially for those with limited computer knowledge. We also met at the geological resources building at Dow's Lake. It was there where Eaton's (they had a computer Department) brought the new 286 machine for us all to marvel at. The display model had a Plexiglas cover so you could see inside.

My first meeting was at the City Centre. It was at some computer company and was the last meeting held at that location, as there was too many for their office to accommodate.

What was the date on the first newsletter?

Does anyone still have a copy of disk of the month #1?

Tim tells us about you and Terry becoming the bulk purchasing reps for the Club.

Take the name out but leave the event. The entire board of directors threatened to quit if he ran at the next election. He put his name in for election but withdrew as part of his campaign speech. There was a major party after the meeting that night.
